England announces squad for UEFA Women's EURO 2022

England's women's football team

Sarina Wiegman has named the 23-player England squad for the UEFA Women's EURO 2022.

The squad includes several key players from England's successful 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup campaign, such as captain Steph Houghton, forward Ellen White, and midfielder Nikita Parris. Wiegman has also included several younger players in the squad, such as defender Niamh Charles and forward Lauren James.

England will be hoping to make a strong run in the tournament, which will be held in England from July 6 to 31. The Lionesses are ranked fifth in the FIFA Women's World Rankings and will be one of the favorites to win the tournament.

England's first match in the tournament will be against Austria on July 6 at Old Trafford. They will then face Norway on July 11 at St. Mary's Stadium and Northern Ireland on July 15 at St. George's Park.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout rounds, which will begin on July 20. The final will be held at Wembley Stadium on July 31.
